Hydrostatic Valve Installation & Removal Tool – 40mm & 50mm

Installing or removing a hydrostatic valve by hand is a frustrating job — and doing it wrong risks cracking the valve body or damaging the pool floor fitting. This purpose-built steel tool makes the job clean, fast, and damage-free, whether you're fitting a new valve or pulling out an old one for replacement.

Available in two sizes to suit the most common Australian pool hydrostatic valve fittings: 40mm and 50mm.

What is a hydrostatic valve and why does it need a tool?

A hydrostatic valve (also called a hydrostatic relief valve) sits in the main drain of a pool and relieves groundwater pressure when the pool is drained — preventing the pool shell from lifting or cracking. Because the valve sits in a tight fitting at the bottom of the pool, a correctly sized tool is essential for installation and removal without damaging the valve or the fitting.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size hydrostatic valve tool do I need?

Select the size that matches your hydrostatic valve fitting — either 40mm or 50mm. If you're unsure, check the valve body or the pool's main drain fitting size. The 50mm size is the most common in Australian pools.

Can I use this tool to remove an old hydrostatic valve?

Yes — the tool is designed for both installation and removal of hydrostatic valves. It provides the grip and leverage needed to unscrew a valve that may have been in place for years.

What is a hydrostatic valve used for in a pool?

A hydrostatic relief valve is installed in the main drain of a pool to prevent the pool shell from lifting out of the ground when the pool is emptied. It opens automatically to relieve groundwater pressure, protecting the pool structure.
