Frequently Asked Questions

What is Startup-Tec used for?

Easy Care Startup-Tec is a sequestrant treatment used during new pool start-up to prevent calcium and metal staining on pool surfaces. It binds dissolved metals in the water before they can oxidise and stain, and improves overall water clarity.

When should I add Startup-Tec?

Startup-Tec should be added during pool filling, as directed on the bottle. Applying it early in the start-up process gives the sequestrant time to bind metals before the pool is fully operational.

What is a sequestrant and why do I need one for a new pool?

A sequestrant is a chemical agent that binds dissolved metals (such as iron, copper, and manganese) and calcium in pool water, keeping them in solution so they cannot deposit as stains on pool surfaces. New pools are particularly vulnerable to metal staining during start-up because the water chemistry is still being established and metals from source water or new plumbing can be present in higher concentrations.

Is Startup-Tec the same as Beautec?

They are complementary products. Startup-Tec is specifically formulated for the new pool start-up phase to remove and prevent staining from metals and calcium. Beautec is an ongoing maintenance treatment that provides 12 months of scale and stain prevention per dose. For new pools, Startup-Tec is typically used first, with Beautec used for ongoing maintenance. You may also want to consider Scaletec Plus if you have existing scale or staining to treat.

What pool surfaces is Startup-Tec safe for?

Startup-Tec is suitable for use in all pool types. Check the product label for specific surface compatibility or call us on 02 9137 8914 for advice.

Can Startup-Tec be used in an existing pool?

While Startup-Tec is formulated for new pool start-up, it can also be used to treat metal staining issues in existing pools. Contact us on 02 9137 8914 for dosing advice for established pools.
